Over 1,000 dared to bare all for the sake of art
18/06/2008
It was back to nature in the early hours of Tuesday morning 17th June 2008 after more than 1,000 people took up American artist Spencer Tunick's "Dare to Bare" challenge when they stripped off for a series of stricking nude photographs in the shadow of Blarney Castle.
Participants began gathering at the castle at 3am and spent the first 2 hours preparing for the series of installation shots, finally being asked to strip off at about 5am by the New-York born artist, who was more than pleased with the result.
The first shoot involved all the participants standing on the lawns within view of Blarney Castle.
The second shoot involved the volunteers holding roses aloft; men held white roses, women held red!
The third involved the artist photographing 400 women in the rockery by the Castle.
For the forth set-up he persuaded 100 male volunteers to stand in the river with with coins in their hands.
